ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,264,509, issued on April 1, was assigned to Vanguard Products Group Inc. (Oldsmar, Fla.).

"Merchandise anti-theft device with a quick-release mechanism" was invented by Christopher A. Kelsch (Palm Harbor, Fla.), Jasen Paul Biggins (Garner, N.C.), Lee Eckert (Sarasota, Fla.), John N. Figh Jr. (Oldsmar, Fla.), Matthew Kuntz (Tucson, Ariz.) and Wade Zhu (Westchase, Fla.).
