ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,304,896, issued on May 20, was assigned to VANDA PHARMACEUTICALS INC. (Washington).

"Highly purified pharmaceutical grade tasimelteon" was invented by Deepak Phadke (Olathe, Kan.), Natalie M. Platt (Columbia, Md.) and Ravi K. Pandrapragada (Clarksburg, Md.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A process for preparing a batch of highly purified, pharmaceutical grade tasimelteon comprises analyzing a batch of tasimelteon synthesized under GMP conditions for the presence of one or more identified impurities."

The patent was filed on June 13, 2024, under Application No. 18/741,969.
