ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,331,300, issued on June 17, was assigned to Utilization of Carbon Dioxide Institute Co. Ltd. (Tokyo).

"Recombinant of hydrogenophilus bacterium with enhanced ability to produce valine" was invented by Hideaki Yukawa (Tokyo) and Naoto Ohtani (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Hydrogenophilus bacterium which produces a mutant acetolactate synthase III small subunit formed of a mutant amino acid sequence having an amino acid substitution is able to effectively produce valine through use of carbon dioxide as a sole carbon source."

The patent was filed on Dec. 12, 2018, under Application No. 17/292,870.
