ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,317,456, issued on May 27, was assigned to UT-Battelle LLC (Oak Ridge, Tenn.).
"Heat sink system" was invented by Raj Sahu (Oak Ridge, Tenn.), Emre Gurpinar (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) and Burak Ozpineci (Oak Ridge, Tenn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system and method for generating a heat sink for circuitry, such as a power module, that facilitates removal of heat from the circuitry. To improve power density of power modules, not only electrical but also thermal optimization may be carried out as the two subsystems closely interact with each other."
The patent was filed on Oct. 6, 2021, under Application No. 17/495,098.
