ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,253,520, issued on March 18, was assigned to University of Vermont and State Agricultural College.

"Compositions and methods for assaying platelet reactivity and treatment selection" was invented by David Schneider (Burlington, Vt.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Compositions and methods are provided for determining platelet reactivity where the levels of FcGammaRIIa on the surface of platelets is measured and if the levels of FcGammaRIIa are greater than a reference value, the platelets have enhanced reactivity."

The patent was filed on July 17, 2023, under Application No. 18/353,683.
