ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,297,124, issued on May 13, was assigned to University of South Carolina (Columbia, S.C.).
"High capacity bilayer cathode for aqueous Zn-ion batteries" was invented by Kevin Huang (Columbia, S.C.) and Kaiyue Zhu (West Columbia, S.C.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Bilayer structured hydrated Ca-V oxide is disclosed as a high capacity cathode for rechargeable aqueous Zn-ion batteries, as well as methods for forming same to provide an improved cathode with significant improvements over existing cathode structures and materials."
