ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,508,382, issued on Dec. 30, was assigned to University of Rochester (Rochester, N.Y.).

"Myofunctional training with negative airway pressure for obstructive sleep apnea" was invented by Denham Ward (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Suzanne Karan (Rochester, N.Y.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides a method and apparatus for treating a subject suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). In one embodiment, the method of the present invention is configured to deliver negative airway pressure to a subject's airway to strengthen the airway muscle tone."

The patent was filed on June 17, 2022, under Application No. 17/843,039....
