ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,303,615, issued on May 20, was assigned to University of Massachusetts (Boston).

"Demineralized bone paper" was invented by Jungwoo Lee (Boston), Jaehyuck Shim (Boston), Ryan Carpenter (Boston), Yongkuk Park (Boston) and Jun-Goo Kwak (Boston).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are three-dimensional bone tissue grafts produced from stacked demineralized bone paper. Also disclosed are methods for treating a subject using tissue grafts produced from the disclosed demineralized bone paper. Also disclosed are assay systems that involves culturing bone-promoting cells on the disclosed demineralized bone paper."
