ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,344,857, issued on July 1, was assigned to University of Massachusetts (Westborough, Mass.).

"Viral vector production" was invented by Jun Xie (Worcester, Mass.) and Guangping Gao (Worcester, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In some aspects, the disclosure relates to methods for improving titer and yield of viral vector production. In some embodiments, the methods comprise transient silencing of transgene expression during packaging of a viral vector."

The patent was filed on Aug. 15, 2023, under Application No. 18/450,033.
