ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 13 -- United States Patent no. 12,521,176, issued on Jan. 13, was assigned to University of Kentucky Research Foundation (Lexington, Ky.).

"Flexible suction coagulator" was invented by Guigen Zhang (Lexington, Ky.), Moamen M. Gabr (Lexington, Ky.) and Mark A. Fritz (Lexington, Ky.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A flexible suction coagulator is adapted for use with an endoscope. The flexible suction coagulator includes an elongated tubular body, a coagulator adjacent a distal end of that tubular body, at least one suction port and a connection terminal at a proximal end of the tubular body."
