ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,310,260, issued on May 20, was assigned to University of Houston System (Houston).

"Ultra-thin film superconducting tapes" was invented by Venkat Selvamanickam (Houston).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An ultra-thin film superconducting tape and method for fabricating same is disclosed. Embodiments are directed to a superconducting tape being fabricated by processes which include removing a portion of the superconducting tape's substrate subsequent the substrate's initial formation, whereby a thickness of the superconducting tape is reduced to 15-80 micro metre."

The patent was filed on Jan. 12, 2024, under Application No. 18/411,951.
