ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,378,539, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to University of Hawaii (Honolulu).
"Evolved integrases and methods of using the same for genome editing" was invented by Jesse B. Owens (Honolulu) and Brian Hew (Honolulu).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed are evolved Bxb1 and PhiC31 integrases that exhibit increased insertion activity and efficiency as compared to their wild-type counterparts and use of the evolved integrases to modify any sequence within the genome of a cell or subject."
The patent was filed on Oct. 15, 2024, under Application No. 18/915,656.
