US Patent Issued to University of Florida Research Foundation on July 29 for "Car based immunotherapy" (Florida Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,371,489, issued on July 29, was assigned to University of Florida Research Foundation Inc. (Gainesville, Fla.).

"Car based immunotherapy" was invented by Lung-Ji Chang (Gainesville, Fla.) and Jan S. Moreb (Gainesville, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The disclosure provides chimeric antigen receptors (CARs), T cells comprising such CARs, nucleic acids that encode such CARS, and methods of use thereof, e.g., to treat cancer such as B cell malignancies."
