ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,435,067, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to University of Connecticut (Farmington, Conn.).

"Truncated itraconazole analogues and methods of use thereof" was invented by Matthew Kyle Hadden (Ellington, Conn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are analogues of itraconazole that are potent hedgehog signaling pathway inhibitors. The compounds are expected to be useful in the treatment of cell proliferation disorders such as cancer, particularly cancers that are dependent upon the hedgehog signaling pathway such as basal cell carcinoma and medulloblastoma."

The patent was filed on Aug. 7, 2020, under Application No. 17/633,679.
