ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,227,726, issued on Feb. 18, was assigned to University of Connecticut (Farmington, Conn.).
"Multigel tumor-on-a-chip system" was invented by Mu-Ping Nieh (Mansfield, Conn.), Armin Tahmasbi Rad (Manchester, Conn.), Reza Amin (Farmington, Conn.) and Leila Daneshmandi (Manchester, Conn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described herein are apparati and methods for growing cells in a manner that mimics the native three-dimensional environment. Cell cultures grown in the apparatus can be screened for inhibition by specific chemotherapeutics or other drugs."
The patent was filed on Aug. 3, 2023, under Application No. 18/364,999.
