ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,246,069, issued on March 11, was assigned to University of Cincinnati (Cincinnati).
"Method of making prodrug for sustained and controlled release" was invented by Joo-Youp Lee (Cincinnati), Edward Merino (Cincinnati), Vishnu Sriram (Cincinnati) and Mina Jafari (Cincinnati).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A novel ROS-responsive prodrug is provided. The prodrug utilizes a unique modified oxalate linker conjugated to 4-aminophenol, which can enhance the reaction kinetics for intracellular ROS within tumor tissues while keeping the modified oxalate backbone stable with amide bond under very low ROS level."
