ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,379,349, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to University of Central Florida Research Foundation Inc. (Orlando, Fla.).

"Acoustoelectric amplification in resonant piezoelectric-semiconductor cavities" was invented by Reza Abdolvand (Orlando, Fla.) and Hakhamanesh Mansoorzare (Orlando, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Interaction of acoustic waves in a piezoelectric-semiconductor resonant cavity with the charge carriers in the semiconductor layer can be directed toward amplification of the acoustic waves; such amplification scheme can be applied in building unilateral amplifiers, zero loss filters, oscillators, high detection range circuit-l...
