ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,313,583, issued on May 27, was assigned to UNIVERSITEIT ANTWERPEN (Antwerp, Belgium).

"Electrochemical measurement of primary or secondary amines" was invented by Karolien De Wael (Sint-Pauwels, Belgium) and Saranya Thiruvottriyur Shanmugam (Chennai, India).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A source of formaldehyde for methylating a primary or secondary amine is part of an electrochemical measurement. The source of formaldehyde may be an adduct of formaldehyde."

The patent was filed on Aug. 31, 2020, under Application No. 17/638,370.
