ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,453,280, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to Universal Display Corp. (Ewing, N.J.).

"Organic electroluminescent materials and devices" was invented by Scott Beers (Flemington, N.J.), Chuanjun Xia (Lawrenceville, N.J.), Harvey Wendt (Medford Lakes, N.J.) and Suman Layek (Lawrenceville, N.J.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Novel iridium complexes containing phenylpyridine and pyridyl aza-benzo fused ligands are described. These complexes are useful as light emitters when incorporated into OLEDs."

The patent was filed on May 11, 2022, under Application No. 17/741,954.
