ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,508,576, issued on Dec. 30, was assigned to UMICORE AG & Co. KG (Hanau-Wolfgang, Germany).
"Catalyst for reducing ammonia emissions" was invented by Birgit Friedrich (Otzberg, Germany) and Gordon Keitl (Frankfurt, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a composition comprising platinum supported on titanium oxide, the platinum particles having an average particle diameter of 50-200 nm. The composition has a surprisingly low light-off temperature for the ammonia oxidation and a high selectivity for oxidation to N2."
The patent was filed on Aug. 18, 2020, under Application No. 17/636,554.
