ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,473,536, issued on Nov. 18, was assigned to Trustees of Tufts College (Medford, Mass.).

"Cultured meat product with genetically modified cells" was invented by Andrew Stout (Medford, Mass.) and David L. Kaplan (Medford, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided herein are genetically engineered mammalian cells that endogenously express one or more phytochemicals, vitamins, or therapeutic agents and suitable for use in a cultured meat product. Methods of making and using the genetically engineered mammalian cells and the cultured meat products are also provided."
