ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,391,911, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to TRIZELL LTD. (Chinnor, Great Britain).

"Adherent cell culture substrate sampling device" was invented by Vesa Turkki (Kuopio, Finland) and Nigel Parker (Chinnor, Great Britain).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A device for aseptically obtaining a physical sample of an adherent cell culture substrate from an adherent cell culture bioreactor. This enables the operator to directly evaluate e.g., cell density/confluence on the substrate without contaminating the cell culture."

The patent was filed on Feb. 14, 2024, under Application No. 18/441,106.
