"Boards from acetylated rubberwood" was invented by Stefan Van Dommele (London) and Theodorus Gerardus Marinus Maria Kappen (Rosmalen, Netherlands).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed is a board made from acetylated rubberwood elements and a method for making same. The acetylated rubberwood elements have an acetyl content of at least 17% and/or are prepared by acetylating rubberwood elements using an acetylation agent in the vapour phase.
