ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,448,014, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to Transportation IP Holdings LLC (Norwalk, Conn.).
"Railroad car truck side frame" was invented by Benjamin T. Woods (Lockport, Ill.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A railroad car truck including one or two new side frames that each includes one or more of a plurality of different improvements that individually and in various combinations reduce, inhibit, or minimize the likelihood of stress fractures or cracks in the side frame."
The patent was filed on Sept. 12, 2022, under Application No. 17/931,347.
