US Patent Issued to Topgolf Callaway Brands on Nov. 11 for "Golf club iron comprising shear thinning filler material" (California Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,465,822, issued on Nov. 11, was assigned to Topgolf Callaway Brands Corp. (Carlsbad, Calif.).

"Golf club iron comprising shear thinning filler material" was invented by Vijay Chavan (Oceanside, Calif.) and Joshua D. Westrum (San Diego).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A golf club head with a cavity at least partially filled with a non-Newtonian shear thinning filler material is disclosed herein. The filler material may comprise multiple materials, such as microbubbles or microbeads, composite polyol materials, blowing agents, and/or graphene to improve performance and dampen sound after the golf club head impacts a golf ball."
