ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,487,211, issued on Dec. 2, was assigned to Thermo Finnigan LLC (San Jose, Calif.).

"Ferrule sleeve for preventing excessive ferrule deformation causing leaks and stuck ferrules" was invented by George B. Guckenberger (Austin, Texas) and Adam D. Bryant (Austin, Texas).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A ferrule includes a deformable portion and a rigid sleeve surrounding at least a portion of the deformable portion. The deformable portion includes between about 5% and about 50% graphite. The deformable portion further includes between about 50% and about 95% polyimide. The rigid sleeve can include a metal, such as stainless steel."
