ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,395,471, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to The Regents of The University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Mich.).

"Sufficiently secure controller area network" was invented by Mert Dieter Pese (Howell, Mich.) and Kang G. Shin (Ann Arbor, Mich.).
