ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,319,234, issued on June 3, was assigned to The Kingstar Co. (Chassell, Mich.).

"Vehicle mounted accessory" was invented by Marcus Niemela (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Cal G. Niemela (Chassell, Mich.) and Michael R. Jackson (Hancock, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An accessory support includes a support frame for attachment to a vehicle, upper and lower support rails coupled to the support frame, and an accessory engaged with both support rails. The accessory, for example a stair, a platform, a storage device, or the like, is repositionable along the support rails."

The patent was filed on Dec. 12, 2023, under Application No. 18/536,929.
