US Patent Issued to The General Hospital on March 4 for "Engineered CRISPR-Cas9 nucleases with altered PAM specificity" (Massachusetts Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,241,096, issued on March 4, was assigned to The General Hospital Corp. (Boston).

"Engineered CRISPR-Cas9 nucleases with altered PAM specificity" was invented by J. Keith Joung (Winchester, Mass.) and Benjamin Kleinstiver (Boston).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Engineered CRISPR-Cas9 nucleases with altered and improved PAM specificities and their use in genomic engineering, epigenomic engineering, and genome targeting."
