ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,241,096, issued on March 4, was assigned to The General Hospital Corp. (Boston).

"Engineered CRISPR-Cas9 nucleases with altered PAM specificity" was invented by J. Keith Joung (Winchester, Mass.) and Benjamin Kleinstiver (Boston).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Engineered CRISPR-Cas9 nucleases with altered and improved PAM specificities and their use in genomic engineering, epigenomic engineering, and genome targeting."

The patent was filed on Feb. 24, 2023, under Application No. 18/174,294.
