ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,269,574, issued on April 8, was assigned to The Boeing Co. (Chicago).

"Methods for forming liquid flow paths on a surface of a structure" was invented by Xiaoxi Wang (Mukilteo, Wash.) and Thomas Seth Perkins (Renton, Wash.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method includes providing a structure having a surface, treating a portion of the surface to modify a wettability of the portion of the structure, and forming at least one liquid flow path on the surface through said treating."

The patent was filed on Feb. 11, 2020, under Application No. 16/787,115.
