ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,466,536, issued on Nov. 11, was assigned to Textron Innovations Inc. (Providence, R.I.).
"Aircraft stair system using bumper arrangement" was invented by Michael John Seibel (Wichita, Kan.), Jamie L. Taber (Wichita, Kan.) and Sidney Aloysius Mohr (Clearwater, Kan.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An aircraft stair system is provided with flexible bumpers configured to prevent abrupt impact of the first structure against the second. Each of the bumpers has a flexible body, a base portion, and a lever arm extending out over the base to create a gap and an open mouth."
The patent was filed on Feb. 2, 2023, under Application No. 18/163,762.
