ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,450,165, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc. (Dallas).

"Vector based matrix multiplication" was invented by Asheesh Bhardwaj (Allen, Texas), Mujibur Rahman (Plano, Texas) and Timothy David Anderson (University Park, Texas).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method is provided that includes performing, by a processor in response to a vector matrix multiply instruction, multiplying an mxn matrix (A matrix) and a nxp matrix (B matrix) to generate elements of an mxp matrix (R matrix), and storing the elements of the R matrix in a storage location specified by the vector matrix multiply instruction."
