ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,228,432, issued on Feb. 18, was assigned to TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc. (Dallas).

"Capacitive-sensing rotary encoder" was invented by Lichang Cheng (Shanghai), Zichen Qiu (Shanghai), Songhua Hu (Shanghai) and Yang Li (Shanghai).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An apparatus is provided and includes a rotary encoder that comprises a stator, a rotor, and a controller. The stator has an opening adapted to surround a first portion of a rotatable shaft, a transmit region, and a receive region.
