ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,492,443, issued on Dec. 9, was assigned to Tenaris Coiled Tubes LLC (Houston).

"Heat treated coiled tubing" was invented by Martin Valdez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Jorge Mitre (Houston).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Embodiments of a method of heat treating a coiled tube, in particular coiled tubes for use in the oil and gas industry, and pipes produced from the methods. In particular, embodiments of the heat treating method can utilized tempering without bending in order to avoid the generation of subsequent defects."

The patent was filed on March 21, 2016, under Application No. 15/076,305.
