ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,436,034, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to TDK Electronics AG (Munich).

"Ferroelectric sensor" was invented by Sandro Kappert (Graz, Austria), Stefan Sax (Graz, Austria) and Johann Pichler (Breitenau am Hochlantsch, Austria).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A sensor (1) which consists of a first electrode (3a), a ferroelectric layer (2) and a second electrode (3b) is described. The second electrode (3b) is connected to ground and the ferroelectric layer (2) is arranged between the first and second electrodes (3a, 3b)."

The patent was filed on May 15, 2020, under Application No. 17/611,016.
