ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,383,725, issued on Aug. 12, was assigned to TC1 LLC (St. Paul, Minn.).
"Bearingless implantable blood pump" was invented by Thomas Nyikos (Zurich) and Bernhard Warberger (Zurich).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Implantable blood pumps and related methods employ a compact rotary motor. The compact rotary motor includes a stator and a rotor. The stator is disposed within a housing circumferentially about a dividing wall such that a blood flow conduit extends through the stator. The stator is disposed circumferentially around at least a portion of the rotor."
The patent was filed on March 18, 2021, under Application No. 17/205,336.
