ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,338,330, issued on June 24, was assigned to Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (Osaka, Japan).

"Alginate hydrogel compositions" was invented by Venkata R. Garigapati (Southborough, Mass.), Tetsuo Hoshino (Arlington, Mass.) and Amit Garle (Lowell, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present application provides a semi-permeable hydrogel composition comprising an alginate matrix that is covalently crosslinked in its periphery to a multi-armed water soluble polymer, along with related methods and uses thereof."
