ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,344,588, issued on July 1, was assigned to Taiho Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (Tokyo).

"Sulfonamide compounds and use thereof" was invented by Hiroyuki Nakamura (Ibaraki, Japan), Jing Teng (West Lafayette, Ind.) and Nathan Gignac (West Lafayette, Ind.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure relates to novel crystalline forms of sulfonamide compounds, pharmaceutical compositions containing the crystalline form compounds and methods of preparing and using the same."

The patent was filed on Nov. 28, 2018, under Application No. 16/768,031.
