ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,268,719, issued on April 8, was assigned to SYNTBIOLAB INC. (Levis, Canada).

"Bacteriophage composition and method of preventing bacterial infections in livestock" was invented by Rodrigue Dubar (Quebec, Canada) and Simon Labrie (Quebec, Canada).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides new bacteriophages, their selection, compositions, cocktails and formulations thereof, and their administration for the prevention of opportunistic infections in livestock, such as Avian Pathogenic E. Coli (APEC) infections in poultry."
