ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,409,195, issued on Sept. 9, was assigned to Synlogic Operating Co. Inc. (Cambridge, Mass.).

"Bacteria engineered to reduce hyperphenylalaninemia" was invented by Dean Falb (Sherborn, Mass.), Vincent M. Isabella (Cambridge, Mass.), Jonathan W. Kotula (Somerville, Mass.), Paul F. Miller (Salem, Conn.), Yves Millet (Newton, Mass.) and Sarah Rowe (Somerville, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Genetically engineered bacteria, pharmaceutical compositions thereof, and methods of modulating and treating diseases associated with hyperphenylalaninemia are disclosed."

The patent was filed on Feb. 12, 2020, under Application No. 16/788,458.
