ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,390,501, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to SYMBIOX INC. (San Diego).

"Use of photosynthetic scaffolds in tissue engineering" was invented by Jose-Tomas Egana-Erazo (Munich), Hans-Gunther Machens (Munich), Ursula Hopfner (Munich) and Joerg Nickelsen (Munich).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention is concerned with a photosynthetic scaffold that delivers oxygen and its uses for tissue engineering and the treatment of ischemia."

The patent was filed on April 25, 2023, under Application No. 18/139,063.
