ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,305,065, issued on May 20, was assigned to SWIMC LLC (Cleveland).

"Non-lapping water-based wood stains" was invented by Xiaodong Shi (Beachwood, Ohio), Maddi Ferrara (Macedonia, Ohio), Terry D. Jordan (Parma, Ohio) and Joshua M. Halstead (Cleveland).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A wood stain composition comprises or consists essentially of a water-miscible polyol having a molecular weight less than 1000 Da, a water-dispersible hydrophobic polymer and a pigment dispersion for providing improved application properties and compliance with regulatory VOC limits."

The patent was filed on Oct. 8, 2020, under Application No. 17/631,935.
