"Catharanthus plant named 'Suncath 801'" was invented by Koichi Tomomatsu (Shiga, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Catharanthus plant named 'Suncath 801, characterized by its upright to outwardly spreading plant habit; relatively vigorous growth habit; freely basal and lateral branching habit; freely flowering habit; long flowering period; double-type flowers with pinkish white-colored petals and petaloids; and good garden performance."
