ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 10 -- United States Patent no. PP36,942, issued on Sept. 9, was assigned to Sun World International LLC (Wasco, Calif.).
"Grapevine plant named 'SUGRA65'" was invented by Terry A. Bacon (Maplewood, N.J.) and Terrence J. Frett (Bakersfield, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The new variety of grapevine 'SUGRA65' is characterized by the production of a large-sized, dark red and obtuse ovoid berry with an early season ripening date. The berries of 'SUGRA65' are moderately firm and very juicy."
The patent was filed on Jan. 31, 2025, under Application No. 19/042,479.
