ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,437,899, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to SUMITOMO WIRING SYSTEMS LTD. (Mie, Japan).

"Covered wire" was invented by Kenta Kobayashi (Mie, Japan), Takeo Maruchi (Mie, Japan) and Hiroyuki Yoshikawa (Mie, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed is a covered wire including: a tubular member through which a coolant flows; a conductor provided on an outer circumference of the tubular member; and a covering member covering an outer circumference of the conductor, wherein the tubular member and the covering member are insulating, and the tubular member has a higher resistance to the coolant than the covering member."
