ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,369,582, issued on July 29, was assigned to Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd. (Tokyo).

"Pyridyloxyacetic acid compound and use of same" was invented by Yuki Sato (Anpachi-gun, Japan), Hiroaki Okamoto (Oita, Japan), Yuta Honda (Takarazuka, Japan) and Kazuyasu Tani (Kurashiki, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides 2-{[3-(2-chloro-4-fluorophenoxy)pyridin-2-yl]oxy}acetic acid or an alkali metal salt thereof having an excellent control effect on plant diseases."

The patent was filed on Nov. 9, 2020, under Application No. 17/773,995.
