ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,458,553, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to Stryker Corp. (Portage, Mich.).

"Patient support apparatus with pump" was invented by Michael W. Graves (Paw Paw, Mich.), Christopher Ryan Sweeney (Portage, Mich.), Nicholas D. Koch (Battle Creek, Mich.) and Matthew A. Cutler (Portage, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A patient support apparatus including a removable pump assembly that substantially fits within an existing footprint of the patient support apparatus and does not substantially expand the footprint of the patient support apparatus."
