ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,374,925, issued on July 29, was assigned to STMicroeletronics (Rousset) SAS (Rousset, France).
"NFC charging" was invented by Nicolas Cordier (Aix-en-Provence, France), Anthony Tornambe (Rousset, France) and Jeremy Quignon (Tourves, France).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A device includes: an NFC controller; a microcontroller; a charging circuit for an external battery; an energy recovery device; an antenna; and a switch. The NFC controller is configured to selectively control the switch in order to couple the energy recovery device to the charging circuit."
The patent was filed on Feb. 21, 2022, under Application No. 17/676,729.
