US Patent Issued to STMicroelectronics (Tours) on Feb. 18 for "Thyristor, triac and transient-voltage-suppression diode manufacturing" (French Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,230,698, issued on Feb. 18, was assigned to STMicroelectronics (Tours) SAS (Tours, France).

"Thyristor, triac and transient-voltage-suppression diode manufacturing" was invented by Patrick Hauttecoeur (Saint Cyr sur Loire, France) and Vincent Caro (Chambray les Tours, France).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A device includes a semiconductor substrate. A step is formed at a periphery of the semiconductor substrate. A first layer, made of polysilicon doped in oxygen, is deposited on top of and in contact with a first surface of the substrate. This first layer extends at least on a wall and bottom of the step.
