ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,471,382, issued on Nov. 11, was assigned to STMicroelectronics (Tours) SAS (Tours, France) and STMicroelectronics S.r.l. (Agrate Brianza, Italy).

"ESD protection circuit" was invented by Aurelie Arnaud (Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, France) and Andrea Brischetto (Catania, Italy).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An ESD protection circuit includes a terminal connected to the cathode of a first diode and to the anode of a second diode, where the cathode of the second diode is not made of epitaxial silicon."
